Ericeira, les plages

You may choose among sheltered and sometimes crowded beaches like the 'Whale' beach, in the village itself, or the quieter and less public ones, like São Sebastião at the north end of the village.
oFurther still, near the ruins of the old palace Paço de Ilhas and the traditional settlement of Santo Isidoro, lies the beach of Ribeira de Ilhas. Facing the open sea, it is internationally renowned as one of the best surfing spots in Europe. After Ribamar comes São Lourenço beach, the favorite for those who like plenty of space and beautiful sea views.
On the opposite side of the village the river running alongside the chapel of Nossa Senhora do Ó and across the sandy beach of Lizandro offers pleasant opportunities for boat trips.
